The industrial cutters with automatic mould change have been designed for pasta producers with industrial output who want the maximum amount of flexibility paired with the highest level of reliability.
 
As a matter of fact, the patented mould change system allows for a quick replacement and substitution of pasta-cutting moulds without stopping production, therefore eliminating down time and in this way optimizing warehouse stock and making it easier to deal with unexpected orders as quickly as possible.
 
The entire system is controlled by PLC, which monitors the various stages, handling the pasta mould magazine/loader, designed to hold 5 moulds, as well as recipes and all process parameters.
 
How this machine works is quite simple, and the various stages of mould replacement and substitution take place automatically without operator intervention.  As a matter of fact, if a new recipe is chosen while the automatic function is set, the mould replacement procedure starts, which can be summed up in the following stages:
  • The top belt, which powers the mould, comes to a stop and at the same time an upper cross-cut of the pasta takes place.
  • The speed of the mould is raised in order to unload, as quickly as possible, the pasta that is still inside.  Moreover, during this stage the pasta is rerouted into the scrap section as not to ruin the pasta that has already been cut correctly.
  • When the mould has been emptied, it is released and the magazine holding the moulds rotates, choosing the shortest and quickest way to load the mould requested for the new recipe.
  • When the new mould is in position, the cutting unit reattaches and the cutter starts again, programmed with the new parameters for the requested recipe.
  • In order to handle the pasta that has in the meantime built up in cutter, the speed is raised in the entire cutter – in a synchronized fashion – until the build-up has been completely recovered.

In most cases, the cutter handles this replacement in 7.5 to 15 seconds, depending on the distance between the moulds and the pre-set parameters.
Moreover, the machine is designed and pre-programmed to handle all data exchange and communication with treatment plants and packaging lines.
